Hair Care/Maintenance

Care Instructions for Curly, Wavy or Straight Hair  Protected by Copyscape Online Plagiarism Check

The best way to wash your lace wig is to hold the wig in your hand
under running water. Use fingers to comb hair instead of combing or
brushing. Use a very good moisturings shampoo and conditioner.

I recommend Infusium or Tresemme products. Slid shampoo thru hair
and make sure finger comb hair going in one direction. Use a wide
vented brush to comb hair or preferably your fingers with really curly
or wavy hair textures.

Make sure to rinse well, especially around the roots. Saturate hair
with conditioner after washing. This hair needs lots of moisture,
especially really curly/wavy hair. Also make sure you rinse all
conditioner off roots of cap. If left on, will soften knots and cause
shedding. You will need to use a knot sealer to seal knots after unit
is dry and before wearing. Hair spritz called "Pump it Up" or "Got 2 be
Glued" will work well as sealer.

Turn wig inside out, place on mannequinn wig stand, and lightly spray
cap with 2 to 3 good coats, and dry with warm blow dryer on low heat.

Deep Conditioning Treatment

For deep conditioning, after washing, put hair in Vented zip lock bag
with lots of conditioner on hair. (make sure bag vented) Place unit in
bag in microwave for 30 seconds. Wrap wig (still in bag) in hot wet
towel. Let sit for 10 minutes, take out of bag and rinse conditioner
out. Rinse conditioner out really well. Squeeze as much water as
possible out of hair without towel drying.

Products work better when hair is very wet. Best products for
moisture is Infusium or Tresemme products. The shampoo and
conditioners do not build up on hair as other products. Make hair
silky soft.

Oil and Shine Products

Best products I found for oil and shine is serum called "Zero Frizz"
(clear bottle) Buy in Walmart. Use 1 to 2 good drops, rub in palms of
hand and lightly slide thru wet hair. Comb thru with vented brush or
fingers. Use as often as needed.

Put extra oil on ends and hair if flat-ironing. Makes hair very smooth
and silky.

When brushing hair, use a wide vented paddle brush. Regular combs
and brushes will pull hair out from the roots. This hair will not grow

Drying Hair

When drying hair, air dry or use a Diffuser to dry. DO NOT use a blow
dryer with comb attachment. Use low heat. The less heat the better
for this texture or any texture.

Sleep Care

At night, if you have Straight Hair, moisturize with a little Zero Frizz,
and braid hair in 2 braids. If you want curls on the ends, put a roller
on ends. It will be wavy and curled on the ends in the morning. Wrap
hair in scarf or silk sleep bonnet to stop frizziness.

If hair is wavy or curly, put hairnet over hair first, then silk or satin
sleep bonnet at night.

This method will prolong the life of your Lace Wig for a long time. I
have had some of my units for almost 2 years using these helpful tips.

Additional Maintenance Tips

Use Knot Sealer on the inside of your cap after each wash to eliminate shedding
Avoid Hair Care products that contain a high percentage of alcohol such as most spritz and mousse. You can use these products but look for those with less alcohol.

When going to bed, wrap your hair or braid it in a ponytail to prevent the hair from tangling while sleep. If possible use satin or silk pillowcase and scarf.
Always wash your unit after swimming.

Comb & brush your hair regularly to keep from tangling or matting.

Daily Moisturizing Tip

Wash and rinse your full lace wig gently but thoroughly, then spray until saturation, with a,1/4 Dove Moisturizing Conditioner, 1/4 of Glycerin and 2/4 plain water mixture*. Using a wide vented brush, brush it into shape. Cover your full lace wig with a hair net, and let it dry on top of a wig head. Once dry and you begin to wear it, you spray lightly with above mixture every 2-3 days or as needed. This will restore the initial shape, bounce and shine of the hair.
